The bubbly actor from Bollywood gets banned in Tollywood over technicality
It is the season of bans in the southern film industry. Following the bans slapped on prominent Kannada actor Nikitha and threatened against Malayalam actor Nithya Menen the season of bans has now arrived in Tollywood. And the stick this time fell on the bubbly Genelia D’souza. The issue is mainly technical, as the actor forgot to join the Telugu film artists union, MAA (Movie Artistes Association). Genelia, who has only one Telugu project, she is busy with Bollywood dates and hence did not probably come to know of the diktat that actors have to either join or face a ban. Her office also probably failed to notice it. According to sources, the actor then had to cough up a fine of Rs 1 lakh to get things sorted out. Genelia’s association with Tollywood began in 2003 with the film Satyam. After completing about 14 projects in Telugu, it seems bizarre to be banned on a technicality. Nonetheless, the actor is geared up for her upcoming Telugu project, titled Naa Ishtam.
