Upendra is back with ‘Gandhinagara Mahatme’

The movie is a remake of a Malayalam film starring Mohanlal

There are unconfirmed reports that superstar Upendra’s next venture will be titled Gandhinagara Mahatme. Our sources tell us that producer Muniratna has already cast Upendra with Prem in key roles and is now looking for the leading ladies and a director. Everything is expected to fall in place by September, so that the cast and crew can complete the movie in a start-to-finish schedule.

Gandhinagara Mahatme is reportedly based on a Malayalam hit Udayananu Thaaram that starred Mohanlal and Sreenivasan in the roles of a moviemaker and an aspiring star respectively. The super hit film was remade in Hindi as Shortkut: The Con is On with Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi and in Tamil as Vellithirai with Prithviraj and Prakash Raj.  The original film, directed by Roshan Andrews, revolves around filmmaking, and ‘Gandhinagara’ is a term synonymous with Kannada filmmaking.Subscribe to me on YouTube
