Ace lyricist Vairamuthu has announced that he would distribute the revenue earned through his latest book Moonraam Ulaga Por to the families of the Cauvery delta farmers who had committed suicide.

Speaking after he received the Ilakkiya Chinthanai award for Moonraam Ulaga Por, he said, “Just as the institution Ilakkiya Chindanai is shorn of any prejudice, my creation too is uncompromising. The novel was created after three years of research and took 10 months of writing. As I have recorded in my foreword, the emotions in the story are not borrowed, they are all my own.”

He added, “I am distributing the profit that I earned through the novel among the families of the Cauvery delta farmers who had committed suicide as their crops began to die. Rs 1 lakh each will be distributed to 11 families.”Subscribe to me on YouTube
