Vijay and Asin’s ‘Kaavalan’ goes to Shanghai Film Fest

The film was selected by a committee headed by Rain Man director Barry Levinson

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Kaavalan, which faced several hurdles before its release, has finally completed 100 days and a steady collection is reported at all box offices. The film received good reviews for Vijay for a different attempt from his usual mass masala hero subjects. Now, it has got yet another honour by being selected for screening at the 14th Shanghai International Film Festival. The film was selected from among 2,500 entries competing from various countries.

Oscar-winning director and screenwriter Barry Levinson (director of Rain Man) headed the selection committee that chose Kaavalan for screening in the Panorama section. The festival will be on from June 11-19, 2011. Vijay has been invited by festival authorities as a special guest and in all probabilities the Vettaikaran star who is abroad shooting for Shankar’s Nanban will take part in the festival.
