Vijayakanth surrenders before court in Jayalalithaa defamation case

After being issued a non-bailable warrant yesterday, the actor-turned-politician surrendered before court today

Actor and DMDK president Vijayakanth, who is also the Opposition Leader in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, today surrendered before a Tirunelveli court, in connection with a defamation case filed against him by the State government.

It is to be noted that the Judge on Wednesday issued a non-bailable warrant against the actor-politician, since he failed to turn up before the court.

There are 23 cases against him for his alleged defamatory remarks on Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

He failed to appear in court on Wednesday in one such hearing, after which the warrant was issued.

Following the warrant, the DMDK issued a statement saying Vijayakanth was busy with a party meeting and hence could not attend the court proceedings.

“He will appear before the court tomorrow,” said the statement on Wednesday.Subscribe to me on YouTube
