Why was Rajinikanth’s ‘Kochadaiyaan’ postponed?

The superstar’s magnum opus Kochadaiyaan will no longer release during Diwali as promised

Rajinikanth promised his fans that Kochadaiyaan will be his Diwali gift to them. But the superstar never anticipated so many problems with the release date.We heard several reasons behind the delay of the Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan, but the speculation that baffled us was that Rajini’s film is being delayed because of Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha’s Son of Sardar. The actor was confident of capturing the South market if his film did release during Diwali, but he would have lost out in the Western and Northern belt. But that’s not all, we heard. Here are a few other speculations:

REASON 1: Yash Raj Films’ Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer is also slated to hit the screens during the festive season. Since Rajini and SRK share a cordial relationship, the superstar didn’t want to hog Shahrukh’s limelight at the box office.

REASON 2: Kochadaiyaan’s box office results will supposedly be affected by Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardar, which is also scheduled to release on November 19. While we are aware that Ajay’s previous films (Golmaal 3, Singham) have been blockbusters, we doubt that it will affect a Rajini film.

REASON 3: Sonakshi Sinha, who is playing the lead in Son of Sardar, has recently become hot property post Rowdy Rathore. The makers of Kochadaiyaan feel that the sultry babe’s popularity can be a real threat to the Superstar’s movie. Unbelievable!

REASON 4: The post production of Kochadaiyaan directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya is incomplete and the makers believe it will take them more time than expected.

Of all the speculations we’ve heard, the post production of the film and the clash with the YRF project seem to be the only believable ones. Whatever the rumours may be, the fact still remains that Rajinikanth will not be making it to the theatres this Diwali. And this has upset his fans who’ve been dying to see the Superstar back in action after two years. Guess they will have to wait just a little bit longer to see their favourite star.
