Although the makers of Agneepath have maintained right since the start that there’s not an iota of similarity between the original Vijay Deenanath Chauhan and the new one (Big B and Hrithik Roshan), wethink that despite the style change, the age difference, the variation in the characters and more, there are certain aspects that remain the same, without which the intense Vijay Deenanath Chauhan wouldn’t be the man he is…

The style: However ironic it may be, a colour like white, which represents peace and tranquility, has been used to style the two angry protagonists in the movie. While Big B strutted around in monochrome virgin white suits in the original film, Hrithik is seen in casual white shirts that he keeps slightly unbuttoned at the neck and teamed with a vest. Hrithik is dressed more like a street guy, while Big B has this don-like demeanour. The mannerisms are obviously different, but the inherent characteristics of Vijay can’t be changed. They both are vindictive and go through an ordeal that makes them intense yet silent sufferers. While Amitabh’s kohl-rimmed eyes created the much needed impact and gave Vijay a new dimension style-wise, Hrithik’s fashion statement is more simple and relatable and hence has a semblance of reality. Hrithik is also seen sporting a black thread around his neck. As the new Vijay opts for stubble, the old Mr Chauhan is clean shaven and prim-and-proper from head to toe even in times of great distress.

As we go through the promos and stills of the new Agneepath, it all brings back memories of the cult classic in which Big B created magic with his hoarse baritone and mind-blowing expressions. The fact remains that he can’t be emulated and there just cannot be another sexy Vijay Deenanath Chauhan. But we are still waiting for Hrithik’s new onscreen avatar to blow us away with his rustic charm. After all, the promos have  already done half the job of impressing us…
