The maiden episode of Aamir Khan’s first ever TV show, Satyamev Jayate that aired on Star Plus on Sunday, May 6, fetched rave reviews on social networking site Twitter, occupying the “top five trends” slot. Even before Aamir could wrap up the episode, which focussed on female foeticide, 2,254 tweets were notched up. From Bollywood celebs to journalists to the person on the street, and activists like Kiran Bedi, all gave the show the thumbs up. Satyamev Jayate was also trending on Facebook. Filmmaker and superstar Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao says the actor’s new TV show Satyamev Jayate has made life tough for her as he has started bringing work home. “This show has made my jeena haram (life tough) on many levels because Aamir has worked on the show night and day and in my house,” the 38-year-old said. “So my house has been full of writers and people from Star (Plus), and Aamir and they have all the big team in my house day and night. Watching telly last night gave us an unexpected treat: the first glimpse of Aamir Khan’s oh-so-secret TV show, called Satyamev Jayate. The actor sat cross-legged in a large chair, a round lap-tray holding a mug of coffee in one commercial and a plate of what looked like paratha in the other, and he spoke in a gently conversational tone as he slurped and chewed, both sounds adding naturalness to the scene.
