What’s with those hideous slippers, Ash?
At the Bachchans’ press meet recently, the media turned up in hordes waiting to get a glimpse of the mother and the baby. But while Beti B was nowhere in sight, new mum Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did say a sweet and desi ‘namaste’ to the waiting crowd. She may be pretty grace personified, but why oh why did she have to wear those clunky silver flip-flops and wreck the elegant image?

Ashutosh Gowariker is on cloud nine these days. Having directed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in his ambitious project Jodhaa Akbar and Abhishek Bachchan in Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, the versatile director has now roped in the patriarch of the Bachchan family, Big B himself! The Lagaan director is quite happy to have Amitabh Bachchan working in his next untitled film which is touted to be a big thriller. If reports are to be believed Amitabh will be playing a high-profile detective in this film. It’s a story revolving around two detectives unravelling a dark mystery, but Ashutosh is unsure about casting the second detective as he is doubtful anyone can match Amitabh’s acting skills and on-screen charisma. Well, Ashutosh can approach a certain Nana Patekar, wethinks! Remember the crackling chemistry the duo had produced in Mehul Kumar’s Kohram?

Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan held a media meet this evening, an hour after Aishwarya and Abhishek’s darling ‘Beti B’ arrived home to Jalsa, their Mumbai residence. New dad Abhishek is all praise for his seven-day old daughter, and looks like he is going to be a strict daddy. He said, “The baby is a darling and very obedient. Amitabh Bachchan, who has received requests for pictures of his newborn granddaughter, says he can’t share the photos because it is a personal thing. “Many asking for the picture of the baby…I am afraid that is not going to happen… too personal…you will understand…thank you,” Big B tweeted. Big B’s daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai, gave birth to her first child November 16 in Mumbai’s Seven Hills Hospital and ever since people are curious to see her daughter. The media has been discreet over coverage of the birth of ‘Beti B’. Dad Abhishek has asked fans to suggest names for his daughter through his tweet.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is touched by the electronic media’s self-imposed restraint on the coverage of his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai’s child birth. “I am also most touched by the decision taken by the electronic media on the coverage issue for Aishwarya’s delivery… humbled!!” Amitabh posted on his Twitter page. According to media reports, the Broadcast Editors Association (BEA) has issued a 10-point advisory to its members on coverage of the birth of the veteran’s grandchild. When the 69-year-old veteran was being asked whether he approached the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) to ban TV channels from placing reporters and cameras outside the hospital, Bachchan took to the microblogging site to clarify. “I&B and media matter! Firstly, I have no such intention ever, secondly do you really think I&B would listen to me!?? No way baby,” he wrote. Aishwarya is expected to give birth in mid-November.
