BL Awards 2011: Shahid and Sonam’s ‘Mausam’ is the Most Surprising Flop!

Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor have more fans and well-wishers than we could imagine, it seems. Audiences really expected their film Mausam to be good. But it truly disappointed them, and word of mouth spread soon to make sure the film wasn’t watched by most people. So, the film might not win any major awards, but it has won a BollywoodLife award in the Most Surprising Hit or Flop category – as the Most Surprising Flop, of course! Mausam garnered 33.85% votes to win this ‘honour’. Tanu Weds Manu got 16.54% votes as a surprise hit of 2011, and so did Chillar Party (11.15% votes), Pyaar Ka Punchnama (11.15% votes again), and Mujhse Fraandship Karoge (9.81% votes). Priyanka Chopra’s 7 Khoon Maaf got 13.85% votes for being a surprise flop, along with flop Bheja Fry at 3.65% votes. Total votes were 520. Click here to read moreClick to Comment

Kareena Kapoor has been voted as the Best Onscreen Zombie (read worst actor) for her 2011 films – Bodyguard with Salman Khan and RA.One opposite Shahrukh Khan. Viewers have clearly not liked her in any of the two films although both were leading roles. She garnered 47.67% votes for her non-acting! Nargis Fakhri’s ‘performance’ in Rockstar came second, with 21.51% votes (we had thought Nargis would win this one). Sonam Kapoor in disastrous film Mausam got 15.99% votes, while Asin Thottumkal – Ready got 14.83% votes. Which means audiences actually liked Asin over the others, although her role in Ready was nothing to write home about. The total votes for this award were 688. Rockstar co-actors Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri form the hottest new couple in Bollywood – onscreen, of course – with 54% votes at the BollywoodLife Awards 2011. Their tragic celluloid romance has made them a secure place in the hearts of viewers. Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandes in Murder 2 were also liked, garnering 29.11% votes. The unconventional romance of Imran Khan and Poorna Jagannathan in Delhi Belly got only 4.98% votes, which means Bollywood movie buffs prefer the conventional to the unusual. In comparison, the newly announced pair of Ranveer Singh-Sonakshi Sinha in Lootera managed to hog 11.92% votes – more than Imran-Poorna. Surprising, how much people expect from the new pairing even before the film has been fully shot. Good luck to Ranveer and Sonakshi! The total votes on this award were 663. Shahrukh Khan is the clear fave of BollywoodLife readers, as he has swept the awards of 2011. King Khan got 51.86% votes to win the coveted Male Rockstar of B-town in 2011 award, which is akin to best actor, best overall performance, best producer, best marketer and what have you. The man has proved yet again why he is known as the Badshah of Bollywood. Our salute to him! Arch rival Salman Khan comes second, with 22.93% votes. Rockstar Ranbir Kapoor is third, with 13.21% votes. Hrithik Roshan in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara comes fourth, at 5.1% votes. The rest of the votes where sprinkled across several actors, with Ajay Devgn at 1.92%, Emraan Hashmi at 1.62%, Ranveer Singh at 1.2%, Aamir Khan at 1.14%, Farhan Akhtar at 0.72% and Abhay Deol at just 0.3%. Had you thought Vidya Balan would win this because of The Dirty Picture? Well, call it the Chikni Chameli effect, or Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, but Katrina Kaif wins this hands down. She garnered 32.88% votes to win BollywoodLife’s Female Rockstar of B-town award! However, Kareena Kapoor was not far behind with 23.37% votes (Bodyguard, RA.One). Vidya Balan came in third with 19.82% votes. Next was Priyanka Chopra (7 Khoon Maaf, Don 2) with 13.4% votes. And then Deepika Padukone (Aarakshan, Dum Maaro Dum) with 7.1% votes. The last one was Nargis Fakhri, who despite starring in Rockstar, probably has a long way to go before she can be called one. She got 3.44% of the total votes of 873. Who is the best Khan of 2011? The votes went to Shahrukh Khan, and not Salman Khan, as many of you must’ve thought. Shahrukh Khan, who was seen in RA.One and Don 2 in 2011, garnered 51.53% votes to win the award. In comparison, Salman Khan got 41.68% votes – which was quite close to Shahrukh’s percentage. Salman was seen in Ready, Bodyguard, Bigg Boss 5 and History Channel in 2011. Perfectionist Aamir Khan – who made special appearances in Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly – got only 6.79% votes. Understandable, since most people would’ve considered only acting and not production, direction or marketing a film while voting. The total votes were 2,284. We thought we should have some fun with annual honours, and also make sure our readers have fun, which is why we exist, right? So while we do have some serious categories here and there, it’s gonna be more a different take on Bollywood – as someone watching from the sidelines and not quite a part of the goings-on in the Hindi film industry. 2012 promises to be a good year for the four Khans of Bollywood. Aamir Khan has Yash Raj Films Dhoom:3 up his sleeve with Katrina Kaif, and he also has Reema Kagti’s thriller Talaash. Plus, he has a new baby boy to nurture and cherish. Shahrukh Khan has his umpeenth film with YRF, which is also his first film with Katrina; while Salman Khan has two big films – YRF’s Ek Tha Tiger (yet again with Katrina) – and his brother Sohail Khan’s Sher Khan, while Saif Ali Khan has his ambitious production Agent Vinod along with Agent Vinod, Cocktail, Race 2, and, of course, marriage to Kareena Kapoor to look forward to!
