Eva Grover, who plays the wicked mother-in-law in Bade Acche Lagte Hain, has been killed off in a car crash. She quit the show because she did not want to age, she said, and would rather not be a granny just when she is back in great shape and looking younger than ever. She could have been replaced by another actor, but we doubt that whoever was chosen would have been able to match Eva’s advanced degree in evil – the lady’s twist o’ lip and gleam o’ eye was quintessential nasty, and her plotting and scheming more diabolical than we have ever seen.
