Okay, so the gloaters were off base and the naysayers were spot on. We read this morning and even had our own take on the story that the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi pair were reuniting in Farah Khan’s new film, rumoured to be titled Happy New Year, starring former foe and now returned-love Shahrukh Khan. Anushka Sharma, who has made her own niche in B’wood with tough young lady roles after Band Baajaa Baaraat, Badmaash Company and more recently Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, was slated to be the lead in this one. Who can be the perfect ‘Chikni Chameli’?
Katrina Kaif managed to grab a lot of eyeballs for her jhatkas and matkas in Chikni Chameli. And we have no doubt that Kat is perfect with her unabashed moves in this spicy sizzler. Yet we wonder which of the other B-town hotties could match up to Chikni’s racing tempo…
Ace dance master Ganesh Acharya, who made Katrina Kaif shake her well-choreographed booty to the sizzling track of Chikni Chameli feels that Kat was the perfect choice for the number – nobody else could have done justice to its choreography, he insists. We second his opinion; Katrina grabs you by the…err….short hairs with her stunning moves and has created a furore with her wiggle and jiggle! Unlike Sheila ki jawani, where Kat was all showgirly and unattainable, in Chikni Chameli she is wild and up for grabs. She’s absolutely untamed and raunchy and the much-needed dose of subtle sexiness and sublime sensuality is missing. The Band Baaja Baaraat couple is back again and this time, they are having loads of fun in Goa!
Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma are looking great together in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. The twosome seem to have kept their chemistry from Band Baaja Baaraat intact in this movie too. Ranveer plays a conman who fools his ladies and runs away with their money. His most recent victims are Dimple Chaddha (Parineeti Chopra), Raina Parulekar (Dipannita Sharma), and Saira Rashid (Aditi Sharma). One day, the three happen to meet and they realise they have been conned. They decide to take revenge. Meanwhile, Ricky Bahl meets Ishika Desai (Anushka Sharma) and tries to con her too, only to realise she is even more street smart than he is. It’s Bachna Ae Haseeno-meets-Bunty Aur Babli-meets-Badmaash Company, but with Ranveer in the lead, we think it will be more fun than all these three films put together. What do you think? As the makers of Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl unfold interesting bits of their promos gradually, it gets easier for us to decode the triteness quotient of the movie. We think the story goes somewhat like this: an adept conman who earns his bread, butter, alcohol, etc by duping women, finally falls in love with a lady who turns out to be much better than him at the swindling game. As we sense a hint of Mr & Mrs Smith, Badmaash Company and many such movies in the genre in the film, we wonder what newness Ranveer, Anushka and Yash Raj Films will bring to the table…err…screen.
