Filmmaker Ravi Chopra discharged from hospital

Filmmaker Ravi Chopra, who was hospitalised at the Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai due to a lung ailment, has been discharged. A hospital source said, “Yes, Ravi Chopra was hospitalised on October 1 and was in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit), but he was discharged on October 26.” The 66-year-old has been advised bed rest. A close friend of the Chopra family said, ”Yes, he is back home, but his health condition is still the same. He is in complete bed rest.” Son of late BR Chopra, Ravi’s uncle was the late filmmaker Yash Chopra who passed away on October 21, 2012. Ravi has directed some notable movies like The Burning Train (1980), Aaj Ki Awaz (1984), Baghban (2003) and Baabul (2006), among others. Click here to read more

Filmmaker Ravi Chopra, who is undergoing treatment in Breach Candy Hospital for lung ailment, has reportedly shown no signs of improvement. “He has been put on ventilator and there is no improvement in his health,” said a source from the hospital. The 66-year-old filmmaker, who is the nephew of late Yash Chopra, was taken to the hospital a few days ago. According to informed sources, he has been battling with lung problem for a long time. Ravi is known for directing The Burning Train (1980), Aaj Ki Awaz (1984), Baghban (2003) and Baabul (2006), among others.

Sanjay Surkar, who entertained us with some meaningful Marathi films, passed away due to cardiac arrest in Pune today. He was 53 years old. Surkar has left behind the legacy of award-winning movies including Chaukat Raja, Tu Tithe Me and Saatchya Aat Gharat to name a few. In fact, Ravi Chopra’s Bollywood film Baghban starring Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini was inspired by Surkar’s Filmfare Award-winning Tu Tithe Me starring Mohan Joshi and Suhas Joshi in the lead.
