Did Kareena Kapoor oust Priyanka Chopra from ‘Agent Vinod’ song?
Though the makers of the film and the actors in it are tight-lipped about the story, the fact remains that Priyanka Chopra was originally invited to do a traditional mujra in Agent Vinod. Apparently it was Kareena who put her foot down and insisted on doing the ‘item number’ herself instead of letting her long time rival steal any of the thunder
Agent Vinod is Saif Ali Khan’s baby. The Nawab of Pataudi turned producer because he always wanted to do a film of this scale. This is Saif’s second film as a producer after Love Aaj Kal and the 41-year-old will be romancing real-life love Kareena Kapoor in the film. It’s an open secret that if you produce a movie, it gives you the power to select a star cast of your choice. At least that’s how it works in Bollywood. We heard that the director of the film Sriram Raghavan was keen to have a classical mujra in Agent Vinod and his first choice to do the number was Priyanka Chopra. But when Kareena found out about it – a little birdie told us with much wicked chortling – she was not particularly happy about the director’s choice and influenced producer-beau Saif to picturise the song on hers rather than letting arch-rival PC steal the limelight with her sexy moves. Kareena Kapoor does mujra for ‘Agent Vinod’
Kareena Kapoor may not be a trained kathak dancer but vigorous training is all one needs to be perfect. After spending a decade in the Hindi film industry, Kareena finally bags a mujra number for Sriram Raghavan’s film, Agent Vinod opposite Saif Ali Khan. Many of Bollywood’s leading ladies like Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukerji and more have tried their hand at mujra. The song has been choreographed by Saroj Khan while Manish Malhotra designed her look for the song. According to sources from the set, the song was a recent addition to the film. Bebo who was dressed in bright red attire with loosely pinned hair for the song sequence had a tough time perfecting the steps but managed to pick it up after several rehearsals. In the end, Kareena had bruises on her hands and legs for the numerous floor movements and dance steps.
