Model-turned-actor Zarine Khan was born on May 14, 1987 into a Muslim, Pathan family in Mumbai. Considered actor Katrina Kaif’s voluptuous lookalike, Zarine aka Zareen made her debut opposite Salman Khan in the 2010 film Veer and grabbed immediate attention. In 2011, she made a cameo appearance in Anees Bazmee’s Ready, where she grooved to the beats of the popular number Character dheela with Salman. and then went on to act in Sajid Khan’s super hit comedy Housefull 2. Item numbers promise quick moolah, and Zarine Khan of ‘Character Dheela’ fame knows this well. So recently when she set out to buy a house and found herself falling short of money, she decided to step into the shoes of an item girl. Zarine sent out feelers to her near and dear ones stating her plight. Responding to her request, Maanyata nudged husband Sanjay Dutt and an item number called ‘Main Chhamiya No. 1’ from Zilla Ghaziabad fell into Zarine’s lap. What’s more, the number would have made Zarine richer by Rs 30 lakhs! But like a soap bubble, Zarine’s ecstasy was short lived. Reason: the actor was expected to match steps with Vivek Oberoi. While we all were busy grooving to the tunes of ‘Character Dheela’, Salman Khan was facing legal troubles due to the same song. In case you’ve missed watching it, take a look at it on YouTube Boxoffice. Apparently, the song contained the word ‘Raas Leela’ that miffed ‘Sanatan Dharma’ followers. According to this dharma, raas leela is a term that’s used in context with Lord Krishna, and using it in the same sentence as Character dheela (loose character) has upset the followers. They think it is derogatory to the lord. Due to this a Public Interest Litigation was filed against Salman Khan and Aneez Bazmee by the chairman and general secretary of the Hindu Personal Law Board. Zareen Khan, the gorgeous lady who debuted opposite Salman Khan in Veer, surprised us when she revealed recently that she wants to open a restaurant. It’s been her childhood dream, which took a backseat when Salman introduced her to Bollywood. She insists that she is not just one of those B-town celebs who look upon restaurants as an alternate source of revenue. Zareen has great love for food, and she claims she got it from her mother, who is a fabulous cook. The Character dheela item girl insists she has been passionate about becoming a restaurateur much before she became a B-towner.
