Wish the Jumping Jack of yesteryear a very happy birthday

Known for his high-octane, vigorous and bouncy dance moves, the quintessential Jumping Jack of B-town celebrates his 70th birthday today. Born as Ravi Kapoor in Amritsar, Punjab in a family whose main occupation was designing imitation jewellery, Jeetendra had no idea that a visit to legendary filmmaker V Shantaram to showcase him some designer pieces would land him into Bollywood. The then newcomer was first cast as Sandhya’s double in Shantaram’s Navrang (1959). In the ’80s, this charming hero rose to fame with films like Mawali, Himmatwala, Jaani Dushman and Tohfa.
