Made in 1979, Gopal Krishna was India’s first colour motion picture that represented the life and times of the most popular Hindu god in the pantheon: Lord Krishna. Ever since then, Bollywoodwallahs have had a fascinating relationship with the dark-blue-skinned deity. Nearly a decade later there was a song and dance potboiler released, called Kishen Kanhaiya – it had nothing to do with anything divine. And the decade after that, the Almighty had chartered a boat to travel into unexpected waters with a horror flick called Krishna Cottage.
