Rajinikanth’s ‘Kochadaiyaan’ adds to cast

Katrina Kaif, Sarath Kumar and Sneha join the list of actor’s in Rajinikanth’s latest film

The Superstar’s Kochadaiyaan continues to be in the news. After we heard about the strong possibility of our Katrina Kaif joining the cast, now come some confirmed tidings. Tamil powerhouse Sarath Kumar is all set to play a pivotal role in Thalaivar’s next outing. He will play Rajini’s brother-in-law. He’ll essay the role of Sneha’s husband, a role that the Superstar thought he was apt for after watching his tremendous performance in the Mammootty-starrer Pazhassi Raja. 17th International Children’s Film Festival: India’s biggest

Over 154 films from 38 different countries are being screened at the festival from November 14-20, with more than 150,000 kids slated to watch them

Children’s cinema got a big boost Monday with the nation’s largest ever and one of the world’s biggest children’s film festival, ‘The Golden Elephant’ 17th International Children’s Film Festival organised by Children’s Film Society, India (CFSI) getting underway in Hyderabad. “In a global village, one has to compete with the world. This cannot be done until one is exposed to the world. This exposure should begin early. We are hence committed to Children’s cinema,” said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. At least 154 films from 38 different countries being screened across 13 theatres and over 150,000 children not just from the nooks and corners of the country but many from other countries who will watch these films: children’s film festival perhaps cannot get bigger than this. Nandita Das, chairperson of CFSI, said, “Good cinema can have a very positive impact on the minds of children. Our intention with showing some carefully selected films from across the world was to cultivate children’s understanding of other cultures and experiences. A cartoon Shammi Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan as Anna Hazare!

Just when you thought you had heard it all, comes the news that über-producer Madhu Mantena (Ghajini) is planning an animated film on the late and sorely missed Shammi Kapoor. Mantena is planning to use 26 of the Yahoo star’s hit numbers in the film. The songs won’t be your bog-standard remix hashes, but will be the pure original, untainted Mohammed Rafi melodies. Hollywood technicians have been approached to make this a world-class project. Do we really need an animated Shammi Kapoor when we can see the real deal anytime we want? Let’s see how the project pans out. Meanwhile, Prakash Jha is no slouch when it comes to getting his project off the ground. He won a major victory for freedom of expression when the Supreme Court overturned the ban of Aarakshan in Uttar Pradesh, rapping the state government on the knuckles in the process. Jha is now planning a film about; you guessed it, freedom of expression. Jha and Amitabh Bachchan are also going to express themselves freely in their next film Satyagraha. Click here to read more

Salman to be a father of two!

The actor has decided to produce yet another film based on children’s issues, and play a dad in it

Yes, you read that right, but it’s only in a movie, alas. Undeterred by the recent box office failures of Chillar Party and I Am Kalam, Salman Khan has decided to go ahead and produce yet another film based on children’s issues. He will produce and star in the Hindi remake of his good luck charm Mahesh Manjrekar’s Marathi film on the education system, Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho. Manjrekar will direct the Hindi version, too, where Salman will play a father of two. Click here to read more
