‘Kahaani’ box office report: Rs 7.45 crore on Friday-Saturday

Vidya Balan’s Kahaani has recovered its money and is on its way to being declared a hit

After being appreciated for her performance in female-centric IshqiyaNo One Killed Jessica and The Dirty Picture, actor Vidya Balan carries forwards the legacy of hits with Kahaani, which has reportedly collected Rs 2.95 crore on its opening day. Released Friday, the drama-thriller made at a shoestring budget of Rs 8 crore is receiving positive response from both the critics and audiences. “The film has opened very well. The collection in India on Friday was Rs 2.95 crore and on Saturday it earned Rs 4.5 crore. A full-pack show is expected on Sunday. The film will definitely survive for over a week,” Taran Adarsh told IANS. The Thursday paid preview collections were 00.85 crore, while the expected Sunday collections are close to Rs 7 crore, reports Boxofficecapsule. Click here to read more

Vidya Balan is a versatile actor: Sujoy Ghosh

The Kahaani director also says his last film Aladin flopped because he didn’t engage the viewers

It’s not easy to take the responsibility of failures, but Sujoy Ghosh does it and says his Aladin bombed because he failed to narrate an engaging story. Now he has moved on with Kahaani and feels there is no point in fretting over past mistakes. “If a film doesn’t work, the reason is simple – as a director I have failed to tell you a story. You have given me the trust to come and see the film and the moment I fail to keep you on the seat I fail to tell you a story,” said Ghosh, whose Aladin bombed despite a huge star cast. “Aladin flopped because I failed to tell a story,” added the director who seems to have learnt tricks of the trade after tasting failure. “You have to move on. This is one industry where you can learn anything out of failure. It is a waste of time if I sit and post-mortem the reason behind the failures.” Click here to read more
