Jagathy Sreekumar to undergo bone surgery

Malayalam comic actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who met with an accident last week will have to undergo surgery to correct the broken bones on his thighs and hands

The 62-year-old, being treated at the MIMS Hospital in Kozhikode , was seriously injured in a road accident on Saturday. The actor is said to be out of danger but will have to go through three bone surgeries. But Jagathy is still on ventilator. Click here to read more

Malayalam comedian Jagathy Sreekumar’s health improves

The actor was injured in an accident and will be on ventilator support for two more days

The condition of Malayalam comedian Jagathy Sreekumar, who was injured in a road accident, has improved but he is still on the ventilator, a doctor said Monday. The doctor, Abdullah, said the 62-year-old Jagathy will be on ventilator for two more days. “It is not that it is essential but we are taking abundant caution and it is better to do it this way because then his other systems will not be put to strain. He has a problem in the pupil of one eye and a few of his bones have to be fixed. The surgery could happen tomorrow (Tuesday),” said Abdullah. Click here to read more

Malayalam film comedian Jagathy Sreekumar injured, on ventilator support

Jagathy Sreekumar, a veteran Malayalam film comedian, was seriously hurt in a road accident in the wee hours of Saturday and has been admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode police said. Speaking to reporters, Venugopal, chief of the 10 member panel of doctors treating the ace comedian, said he suffered multiple injuries. “He has injuries in the neck, chest and abdomen and and if necessary he will have to undergo a surgery. He has been put on ventilator,” said Venugopal.
Jagathy, 62, has acted in more than 1,000 Malayalam films. The accident occurred near the Kozhikode University campus around 4.30am, when the Innova car carrying him hit a divider, police said. The driver of the car escaped with minor injuries, while the actor was badly hurt, police said. Jagathy was on his way from Thrissur to Coorg in Karnataka to join the location of director Lenin Rajendran’s latest film. With the accident, more than a dozen films in Malayalam which are under various stages of production will be affected.Click here to read more

Santosh Sivan is one of the few cinematographers in Indian cinema who have worked across borders and gained recognition on home soil as well as abroad. Not many know that the master craftsman began his journey as a painter, then moved on to still photography, from there to cinematography, then direction, and finally acted in a Malayalam film in which he played Raja Ravi Varma – the very painter who inspired him in the first place!
