Mohanlal’s IT controversy refuses to die down

The controversy of the possessing ivory tusks, which has been haunting Mohanlal just refuses to die down.  A Divisonal Forest Officer has now informed the Court that Mohanlal, from whose house ivory tusks were seized during IT raids in 2010, had violated the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.  In an affidavit before the First Class Magistrate Court at Malayattoor, Divisional Forest Officer BN Nagaraju stated that the actor did not have any certificate of ownership of the seized ivory and by its possession had violated wildlife rules.
A case was registered against Mohanlal and two others in connection with seizure of ivory. The top Mollywood actor, who is popular in Kollywood as well, is the first accused in the case.Click here to read more

Navodaya Appachan, Kerala film industry’s biggest showman dies

Navodaya Appachan, known as the biggest showman of the Malayalam film industry, died at a private hospital in Cochin on Monday night after battling cancer for a long time. He was 81-years-old. Officially known as MC Punnoose, he was often referred to as ‘Navodaya Appachan’. He was battling prostate cancer for a few years. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. Family sources said the body would be taken to his own studio, Navodaya, and from there it would be taken to Chennai on Tuesday for the last rites to be performed on Wednesday. A director, producer and a film entrepreneur, Appachan changed the face of the Malayalam film industry by producing the first 3D film in the country My dear Kuttichaathan and also the first 70mm film Padayottam.
