BOL BACHCHAN music review: Boring!

BOL BACHCHAN music review: Boring!

Music: Himesh Reshammiya & Ajay-Atul

Lyrics: Sameer, Swanand Kirkire, Farhad & Sajid

Rating: **

After composing the mediocre soundtrack of Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishq, Himesh Reshammiya tries to create some fun and lighthearted songs for Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan

Interestingly, there are only four songs in this soundtrack. The album kickstarts with the title song, Bol Bachchan, a number sung by Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn. Click here to read more

MLA movie review: This film will make your stomach churn!

MLA movie review: This will churn your stomach!

Walking into Shiv Dubey’s MLA- An Inside Intruder with your tummy full is a dangerous proposition because you’ll either doze off or have haunting nightmares about the film for the days to come. If not, then you’ll simply throw up!

Picture this: you are watching a predictably boring 90’s film, preferably a C-grade production with an amazingly simplistic and dumb storyline. You have to look at actors who wear the same expression throughout the film and mouth the most cliched lines. The conventional ‘hero’ and ‘heroine’ break into a dance and go on a romantic escapade absolutely unannounced. Click here to read more

‘Peepli Live’ actor Omkar Das Manikpuri says: ‘MLA’ is a brave film

After grabbing attention and accolades for his heart-wrenching character Natha in Aamir Khan’s production Peepli Live, actor Omkar Das Manikpuri is back with his second film MLA, which is releasing across India this Friday. We caught up with the unassuming actor on a sweltering May afternoon to learn more about the fascinating shades of his interestingly quirky personality, his unease about facing the media glare and his journey from a dusty village in Chhattisgarh to the silver screen

With a nervous smile plastered on his wrinkled face, Omkar Das Manikpuri’s hesitation in doing an interview is palpable. Natha of Peepli Live fame doesn’t hate the media, but the sheer thought of talking to the ‘snobbish’ English-speaking Indian press makes him uneasy. Click here to read more

Abhishek Bachchan in Mani Ratnam’s next?

Abhishek Bachchan in Mani Ratnam’s next?

Cineswami tells you more, also throwing light on Peepli Live director Anusha Rizvi’s next based on Amitav Ghosh’s book Sea of Poppies

While the world was getting its collective knickers in a twist about Amitabh Bachchan’s health, his son made a quiet trip to Chennai and back. The reason wasn’t to stock up on idlis, dosas and pongal or even Dindgul biryanis, but to catch up with the man who made him act decently twice and once went horribly wrong – Mani Ratnam. The director had extracted decent performances from Aby’s baby in Yuva and Guru, but failed spectacularly with Raavan. The visit was an official one, beginning with talks at Mani’s plush office, followed by lunch at his home. Abhishek then made his way over to AR Rahman’s place to pay his respects. Chandan Roy Sanyal to star in Aamir Khan’s ‘Kashmiri Glasshouse’

Yogen Shah

Deepak Dwivedi is the newbie director on the block and he has managed to catch the attention of the B-town heavyweight, Aamir Khan!

If Aamir Khan takes charge, things almost invariably go right, even though they may take longer to happen. So if a young and fresh director comes up with a film project that the star-actor likes enough to back, it will almost always work, at least critically, if not commercially. And the director is taken  much more seriously by producers everywhere, even if they get rather miffed with Aamir in the process of the film being made – ask Amol Gupte (Taare Zameen Par), Anusha Rizvi (Peepli Live), Abhinay Deo (Delhi Belly) and even a certain Kiran Rao (Dhobi Ghat) for more on that one! But they all have one overwhelming factor in common, to some extent due to their backer, Khan-sa’ab: every one of those people made films that were critically highly acclaimed.
