Joy Mukherjee passes away

The veteran of films like Love in Simla, Shagird and Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon died at 73

Bollywood veteran actor-filmmaker Joy Mukherjee passed away in Mumbai on Friday, March 9 at 73. Veteran actor Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu had paid a visit to the ailing star of yesteryears in hospital just yesterday (March 8). Music composer Bappi Lahiri was also among the visitors. “Dilip saab and Sairaji came to visit him (Joy) Thursday afternoon. Since he was still unconscious and on the ventilator, they sat for a long time chatting with his wife (Neelam Mukherjee),” RR Pathak, Mukherjee’s spokesperson, said. Mukherjee had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital at around 10:30am on March 5 in a critically ill state, and he had high fever when he passed away. Click here to read more

Veteran actor-filmmaker Joy Mukherjee critically ill

Yesteryears Bollywood star Joy Mukherjee was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai in a critical condition Monday and has been put on ventilator, the 73-year-old’s spokesperson, RR Pathak, said. said. “He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at around 10:30am. He has not been keeping well for quite some time,” said Pathak. “His wife Neelam Mukherjee is too distraught at the moment,” he added. Mukherjee, who made his cinematic debut in 1960 with Love in Simla, became a known face with films like ShagirdLove in TokyoBahu Beti, Ziddi, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Ek Musafir Ek HasinaPuraskarIshaara and Hum Hindustani.
The paternal uncle of actors Kajol and Tanisha, Mukherjee also directed movies like Love in Bombay (1974), Chhaila Babu (1977), Saanjh Ki Bela (1981) and Umeed (1989).Click here to read more
