Jai-Veeru turn police officers for ‘Marathi Sholay’!
Sholay is all set to be remade again. And this time on a regional level. But after enduring many unsuccessful remakes of this cult movie, should we really be looking forward to it?
We guess it’s time to replace ‘kitne aadmi the?’ with ‘kitne remakes the?’ (How many remakes were there?).
Sholay has inspired the making of Subhash Ghai’s
Karma (1986), Sibte Hassan Rizvi’s
Joshiley (1989), Ajit Diwani’s
Ramgarh Ke Sholay (1991), Rajkumar Santoshi’s
China Gate (1998), Kanti Shah’s
Duplicate Sholay (2002) and
Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag (2007). We’re still recovering from the aftermath of
RGV’s Aag when the
taazi khabar at our doorsteps is that
Sholay will soon have a version in Marathi. “The original
Sholay cast a deep spell on our minds. We can’t change that. So I am presenting a serious story in a comic form and it is called Marathi
Sholay,” said Marathi film director Vickey Kharat in an interview.
