Unlike its predecessor Rock On!!, which had popular rock music, the soundtrack of Ranbir’s new film is more spiritual – in the Sufi and qawwali zone

The soundtrack of Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar is quite different from the kind of rock music we have been used to in Bollywood. Unlike London Dreams, Dev.D and Rock On, which were in the grunge and popular rock zone, AR Rahman’s music in this film is more spiritual. It is quite an unusual fusion of Sufi, qawwali and rock. No wonder the director deemed it fit to launch the music of his film at the Hazrat Nizamuddin durgah.
