AAZAAN movie review: Hollywood style action with a ‘desi’ let down

Despite the unconvincing leading man of Prashant Chadha’s espionage thriller, Aazaan is a one-time watch, if only for the action and Candice Boucher, of course! The movie makes a promising start, but the moment Sachiin Joshi arrives on scene, the disconnect begins. A film of this stature needed someone like Hrithik Roshan, who could have delivered the chops, but by any stretch of imagination, one can’t believe that Joshi, who plays the title role can save a jeopardised country. The film takes a lot of creative liberties but the visuals which are almost at par with Hollywood, somehow manage to keep you interested. Dalip Tahil has been criminally wasted and so are the other actors. Ravi Kissen’s dialogue delivery in Hindi is an outdated version, which is not used anymore. Candice Boucher makes a glorified cameo but looks sinfully gorgeous nevertheless. The climax ensures that you will not walk out angry or heavily let down.

AAZAAN song: Candice Boucher in and as ‘Afreen’

The hottie stars with Sachiin Joshi in this thriller

Candice plays Afreen – a gorgeous sand artist who comes along Aazaan’s (Joshi) way when he is vulnerable and broken. She showers him with love. Aazaan stands in the way of Doctor’s (Sajid Hassan) plans to destroy India. All he has on his side is the love of a brother and the love for his country. The film also stars Dalip Tahil, Ravi Kissen, Samy Gharbi and Arya Babbar among others. Click here to read more

Ravi Kissen steals the limelight from Sachiin Joshi

Though it was the launch of the trailer of actor Sachiin Joshi’s debut film, Aazaan, it was Ravi Kissen who walked away with all the attention. Despite the presence of music director duo Salim-Suleiman, the Bhojpuri superstar kept the meagre audience half interested. Ravi Kissen has a small role in the film, that of a RAW agent, but he was the star that evening. Dino Morea also made a brief appearance but made a quick exit before the media even started asking about his rumoured stint in the Bigg Boss house. Though the trailer promised that the film is very high on production values, Sachiin hardly managed to make a mark amidst the blasts and car crashes. We went there hoping to see Candice Boucher but came back disappointed, with a badly written press release and a copy of the trailer.

Vivek wins an award!

Yogen Shah

After struggling for nine years in the industry, the Prince actor wins an award

Vivek Oberoi has finally won an award. The actor has just been presented with the Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Award for his contribution to Hindi cinema, on the 120th birth anniversary of the leader. Now we love what Vivek did in Company and Saathiya, but when you are also presenting the same award to such achievers like Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Prada, you do need to be a little picky, right?
