Rajesh Khanna’s ashes immersed in the Ganges
Late superstar Rajesh Khanna’s estranged wife Dimple Kapadia immersed his ashes in the river Ganges in Rishikesh on July 25. The couple’s younger daughter Rinke Khanna accompanied her mother to Dehradun and then Rishikesh for the ritual. Elder daughter Twinkle Khanna, who is married to actor Akshay Kumar, could not make it because she is pregnant with her second child. Dimple performed some Hindu rituals before submerging Rajesh’s remains in the holy river.

Millions of fans caused a near stampede in Mumbai’s famous Bandra suburb the morning of July 18, as Bollywood superstar Rajesh Khanna was being carried in a casket to a crematorium. The actor’s family members were present, including wife Dimple Kapadia, daughter Rinke Khanna, sons-in-law Akshay Kumar and Sameer Saran and grandson Aarav. Aarav, son of Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar, lit Rajesh Khanna‘s pyre on Thursday, July 19 at the Vile Parle crematorium in Mumbai. “Aarav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar (Rajesh Khanna’s son-in-law) assisted him,” the late superstar’s close friend Vijay Zaveri said. Veteran superstar Rajesh Khanna who was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai two weeks ago has been discharged, his wife Dimple Kapadia informed. “Khanna is back home. He was discharged yesterday (Saturday). He is absolutely fine now,” said Dimple. The 69-year-old actor, fondly called Kaka, was admitted to Lilavati hospital June 23. Khanna was accompanied by wife and daughter Rinke Khanna when he was being discharged. The actor has been battling health issues for quite some time. In April, he was admitted to the hospital after he complained of weakness, but was discharged in three to four days. Bollywood’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna has been a part of the film industry for over four decades and has given hit films like Aradhana, Safar, Kati Patang and Anand.
