Was Priyanka Chopra trying to ape Sachin Tendulkar?
Imaging: Neeraj Kathale

The Barfi! actor is certainly not trying to copy the cricket god’s square cuts. So what’s this?

When we saw Priyanka Chopra peeping out of the trailers of Barfi!, we couldn’t help but notice her soulful, puppy-dog eyes. And we blame the umpteen close-up shots for this one. But one feathered friend, who was probably tired of looking into her watery naina, managed to spot the curlies plonked on her head. Click here to read more

Ekk Deewana Tha Movie Review: Prateik’s charm isn’t enough to salvage the film

Ekk Deewana Tha requires enormous patience and a healthy appetite for love stories

Prateik is that rare thing – an actor blessed with effortless charm. He doesn’t have to work too hard to make us like him. And even his obvious awkwardness in scenes that require more complex emotions becomes endearing. He brings a real sweetness to his character of Sachin, a young, middle-class, engineering student bitten by the movie bug, who dreams of someday directing his own film. Sadly however, Prateik‘s charm isn’t enough to salvage this soggy love story that stretches beyond any reasonable limits of endurance. Click here to read more

BIGG BOSS 5: Last five contestants share a room

The green room is shut and the pink room has to be shared by the final five in the Bigg Boss 5 house

Everyone is sad and gloomy after Salman Khan’s interaction with them. After the grilling session, the housemates say that they would not do anything in the house except participate actively in the tasks. Carrying on in the gloomy mood, Amar Upadhyay and Pooja Misrra are seen bitching about Juhi and her self-centeredness in the pink room. The next day starts with an ever enthusiastic song Crazzy Kiya Re, to which none of the contestants are seen dancing. It turns out to be a lazy morning Amar and Sky are seen preparing breakfast in the kitchen and discussing Symonds. Amar says he would have been excited to see either Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Kapil Dev or Bhajji in the house rather than the Australian cricketer. Soon, Symonds and Pooja Misrra are asked to leave the house since they were not contestants but guests. While Symonds is ready and is waiting for Pooja, Sidharth manages to get time to talk to him. The all rounder advises Sid to play the game sensibly henceforth, act a little mature and live up to all that Salman has advised him to. While Pooja packs her bags, Sunny Leone and Amar tell her that this time she can strut out with her head held high. While the two are seen leaving, Juhi asks Symonds to enact Aati kya Khandala once again and he does it perfectly this time – to which all the contestants are seen applauding. Click here to read more

Get ready for ‘Sholay’ in 3D

We heard that filmmaker Deepa Sahi is currently working on the 3D conversion of the 1975 Ramesh Sippy cult classic, Sholay. Confirming the same, Sahi said, “We are doing Sholay in 3D. My studio (Maya Digital Studio) is working on it. It’s a very exciting project. I saw some parts that we have already finished, they are looking awesome. I saw Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s train sequence, firing bullets, it is in 3D and it is looking great.” However, the filmmaker is not certain as to how long it would take to complete the 3D conversion as they have completed just 12 minutes of the 204-minute action thriller. This sounds really exciting and we are waiting with bated breath to watch Sholay on the big screen and this time in 3D.

‘Sholay’ was declared a flop!

People were calling the film ‘Chholey’, reveals Anupama Chopra

When it first released all those years ago in 1975, Sholay, that now-iconic film was thought to be a total flop show. The morning after the premiere, people were calling the film ‘Chholey’ and saying that it had a cast of ‘teen maharathi aur ek chooha’ (three warriors and a mouse) and insisted that Indians did not like films like this one. Even the black marketeers were saying that the strange story was a second-rate take-off of Mera Gaon Mera Desh, which was a super-duper hit. Click here to read more
