Okay, so the gloaters were off base and the naysayers were spot on. We read this morning and even had our own take on the story that the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi pair were reuniting in Farah Khan’s new film, rumoured to be titled Happy New Year, starring former foe and now returned-love Shahrukh Khan. Anushka Sharma, who has made her own niche in B’wood with tough young lady roles after Band Baajaa Baaraat, Badmaash Company and more recently Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, was slated to be the lead in this one. In showbiz, you are only as good as your last film. Farah Khan is still reeling under the weight of the failure that was Tees Maar Khan, that BO turkey starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Akshaye Khanna, all hamming uselessly and ineptly as the non-story wandered off into the realm of completely idiocy. Shahrukh Khan, who turned almost everything he touched into gold – at least in London, New York and all parts NRI – bounced on the bottom of the barrel with his uber-expensive RA.One, the film that will forever be remembered as insane, inane and indubitably unwatchable. But together the two have created masala magic with Main Hoon Naa and Om Shanti Om. In those two films Farah was at her tongue-in-cheek-funny best, while Shahrukh seemed to have more fun than ever before with his OTT characters. They worked big time at the BO and with critics alike. Shahrukh Khan has been on the starting end of so many fights – hurting Juhi Chawla by not giving due credit to her brother Bobby for his work on RA.One (or so she claimed), slapping Shirish Kunder, insulting Salman Khan at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party, throwing Aishwarya Rai out of his movie Chalte Chalte – we’ve lost count. Whether Shahrukh Khan slapped Shirish Kunder or not, what we can say for sure is that they did get in to some kind of fracas. Shahrukh too admitted that Shirish had blocked his way and so he pushed him aside. Two days later, they even forgave each other for not only that incident,but also for past hurts. For the past two days, Shirish Kunder has been rocking B-town with his allegations that long-time foe Shahrukh Khan had slapped him at Sanjay Dutt’s party. Though a midnight visit to Mannat by Shirish, his wife Farah Khan and her brother Sajid saw the two sides patch up, Shahrukh has refused to even acknowledge that the incident occurred at all.
