RA.ONE MUSIC REVIEW: Songs rock!
Cineswami has deigned to listen to the music of RA.One and is delighted to report that it is the outstanding, nay, the soundtrack of the year. Take a bow Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani
The album begins with the now ubiquitous Chammak challo [watch song], sung by Akon and Hamsika Iyer. It’s an infectious number with Tamil lyrics cropping up occasionally. Dildara [watch song], a tribute to Ben E King’s classic Stand by me, is a ballad rendered by Shafqat Amanat Ali in his best dard-meets-romance voice, a quality unique to singers across the border. ‘RA.One’ music launch first of its kind in Bollywood
Trust Shahrukh Khan to push the envelope when it comes to marketing his films; this time it was the music launch of his film, RA.One. Usually the music launch event for any film is a short affair, but SRK and his team converted the event into a full-blown television show titled, Chammak challo. The cast of the film including Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor, the music composer-duo Vishal and Shekhar, together ensured that it was a memorable evening and everyone went home thoroughly entertained. The Chammak challo singer Akon, was thoroughly missed, though.

Dibakar Banerjee imports item girl for ‘Shanghai’
Though he is known to keep away from the Bollywood stereotypes, director Dibakar Banerjee has succumbed to the ‘item girl’ fixation. English girl Scarlet Mellish Wilson will be seen in Banerjee’s Shanghai and the director says she is one of the best dancers in the Bollywood forum. Vishal-Shekhar who were assigned the task to compose the song, came up with this rocking number Imported Kamariya, which we’ll be shooting with Scarlet shortly. Trust me, she will take Bollywood by storm,” Banerjee said. We are waiting to hear what Shiela and Munni have to say about this.

Is RA.ONE’s ‘Dildara’ song a Ben E King rip-off?
Do you remember the Pretty Woman song from Shahrukh Khan’s Kal Ho Naa Ho? Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy had used the hook of Roy Orbison’s original version. Something similar has been pulled off by the music composer duo Vishal-Shekhar for SRK’s next, RA.One. V&S have used the hook of the popular Ben E King song, Stand by me. We are not sure if it was King Khan’s idea or not, but somehow we didn’t like the new song. It could be probably because of the fusion they have tried; it is just not working for us.
