Punjabi film Sadda Haq is a cinematic look at the separatist movement in the state from the militants’ point of view and is purportedly based on true events

First of all, let us clarify that we are not referring to the AR Rahman’s hit song from Rockstar. That’s so 2011. We are talking about Mandeep Benipal’s Punjabi film Sadda Haq that was due to release last Friday but was banned at the last minute by the governments of Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi on the grounds that it might fan the flames of communal disharmony. This is Benipal’s second film after 2010’s superhit Ekam: Son of Soil. Gurbani title changed to Bani – Ishq da Kalma

Colors decided to tweak the title of their new show Gurbani keeping in mind the sentiments of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee and the Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib

The title of new show Gurbani has been replaced with Bani – Ishq da Kalma, said an official statement from channel Colors on Monday. The decision comes after various Sikh organisations reportedly expressed concern over it. “With utmost respect and humility, we request the complainants to view Gurbani as merely a name and in context of a fiction show that endeavours to bring a social issue to the fore.
