Music label Sony Music Entertainment has signed a three-film deal with Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures for the movie banner’s upcoming projects Shootout At WadalaEk Thi Daayan and Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi. Young music director Anirudh Ravichander wishes to bring world music to India in his future projects

He is all of 21 and can boast of over 38 million YouTube hits for his song. But Anirudh Ravichander, composer of the phenomenally popular Tamil-English number Kolaveri di, is already trying to move out of its shadow. “Kolaveri di is in the past now; I am trying to move on to new projects,” Ravichander said. “Although I’m enjoying the success, I realised it was very important to move out of the Kolaveri di shadow to concentrate on future projects. Action films are usually about muscle power and stunts, but Karan Johar’s remake of Bollywood classic Agneepath provided many sequences for songs, according to National Award-winning composer duo Ajay-Atul. “Normally in action films, you don’t get many situations where you can add songs. If you see action films, where’s the scope for music? Even the original Agneepath had three or four songs,” Atul Gogavale said on behalf of the duo. “Our album has six songs, and we have tried to maintain a good variety with one intense Ganpati song, one qawwali, one romantic number, another song capturing the emotions of a brother and sister… We wanted to give this album our best because it is very special for us,” he added.
