Dhanush regales Kolkata on Christmas with ‘Kolaveri di’

Southern star Dhanush added to the Christmas celebrations in Kolkata when he performed his raging hit Why this kolaveri di to thousands of screaming fans Sunday. Dhanush and the song’s music director Anirudh Ravichander regaled the audience at City Center mall. The fans, both young and old, clearly couldn’t have enough as they kept chanting “once more” when Dhanush finished. He generously obliged. Dhanush is perhaps the first Indian celebrity whose song Kolaveri di has gone viral on YouTube, with over 20 million hits so far. The number is increasing by the day. The video for Kolaveri di was released online November 16. Its peppy tune as well as funky lyrics helped it go viral and get more than a million hits on YouTube within a day of its launch.

Dhanush sings Why this Kolaveri ‘B’ for Big B!

Southern star Dhanush sang a tweaked version of his hit Tamil-English song Why this kolaveri di, dedicated to Amitabh Bachchan at an award function in Mumbai, leaving the megastar highly impressed. The event, the BIG Star Entertainment Awards, was held Sunday. Amitabh received two awards, and he was overwhelmed. “Oh dear me lots of things to say… just back from Big Star Entertainment Awards and… they gave me two awards… best actor in social role for ‘Aarakshan’ and the second for the Complete Entertainer of the year… I am blessed!!” Amitabh posted on micro-blogging site Twitter Sunday night. When Amitabh received the awards, Dhanush, son-in-law of movie icon Rajinikanth, stood up and sang a ‘Big B’ version of Kolaveri di. Amitabh described the moment through a tweet, saying: “And… when complete Entertainer announced, Dhanush sings live from audience, a ‘Kolaveri Di’ number, but words to suit the occasion!! Dhanush’s words were ‘Why this Kolaveri, Kolaveri, Kolaveri… B… big B… TRP’. Brilliant absolutely!! So lovable and so good!” The award function saw Bollywood’s who’s who.

Akshay Kumar not interested in buying rights to ‘Kolaveri di’

The Desi Boyz actor refutes reports that he has bought the rights to the Tamil chartbuster

An interesting speculation related to the song was also that Shahrukh Khan was interested in buying the rights of the Hindi version of the popular Tanglish song, but Akshay Kumar beat the Khan to it and got hold of the rights. Nevertheless, Dhanush, son-in-law of matinee idol Rajinikanth, is overjoyed that the song is successfully “breaking language barrier”. “Yayyyyyy 20 million views for Kolaveri !! Dhanush loves Nevaan Nigam’s ‘Kolaveri di’ version!

The actor-singer wants to meet Sonu Niigaam’s son Nevaan and also make a video with him!

Tamil star Dhanush’s chartbuster Why this kolaveri di is being loved by all, but he is highly impressed with the version sung by Sonu Niigaam’s four-year-old son, Nevaan. “Oh my god I’m in love with Nevaan’s version of ‘Kolaveri’.
