Rituparna Sengupta, the face of ‘BIG Salute to Bangla Women Entertainers Award’
BIG Live has launched the BIG Salute to Bangla Women Entertainers Award campaign to honour Bangla women across eight different genres of movies, television, music, media, dance, sports and theatre. And what’s more, actor Rituparna Sengupta has been chosen as the face of this campaign. She has been roped in due to her ‘ability to don many roles’, according to BIG’s spokesman. The actor who won the National Film Festival of India Award in 1998 for Rituparno Ghosh’s Dahan was last seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. She was also involved in making a niche Bollywood movie, Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh (2005). In response to this honour, the actor said, “I am ecstatic for being the face of this prestigious award,” adding, “Every woman deserves this award as their contribution to the society is overwhelming.” Way to go, lady! We couldn’t agree more.

Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra to jazz up awards show
Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra are set to add glamour with their performances at the second edition of BIG Star Entertainment Awards. Conceptualised by BIG Live, the show, to be held in Mumbai December 18, is expected to get bigger and better this year. “This property has lent a new platform to the entertainment industry in India where the audiences are empowered to choose their favourite entertainers sans jury. Post the roaring success of the awards which debuted last year, we are back with a bigger entertainment line-up this year,” Rabe T Iyer, business head, BIG Live, said in a press statement. The awards function, organised by Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd and Star India Pvt Ltd, seeks to give audiences the opportunity to nominate and vote for their favourite entertainers across the genres of television, sports, films, music and dance. It will be aired on New Year’s Eve on Star Plus.
