Produced by Chai’s father Akkineni Nagarjuna, the film is helmed by Vijay Kumar Konda who had directed the  2013 superhit Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde.     Even though actors have given an earnest performance, the film is let down by its ordinary script which has nothing new to offer
    There was  a time in Indian cinema when audience were bred on staple diet of action, melodrama and heroic machismo. But in recent years the filmmakers have tried to break the mould and try something new with the craft. Deva Katta’s Autonagar Surya takes us back to the golden era of cinema which was dominated by masala entertainers with heavy dose of punch dialogues and goon bashing.      They did it with Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010. They did it again with Manam in 2014. The charming duo of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha are coming back again to make strike three in box office with Deva Katta’s Auto Nagar Surya. At best they are seen as calling cards for emerging filmmakers who are out to prove that they can make feature length films. Vidhu Vinod Chopra made the shorts Murder at Monkey Hill and An Encounter with Faces with the latter going on to score an Oscar nomination.
