‘RA.One’ third Indian film to cross Rs 100 crore mark
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan has left no stone unturned to make his dream project RA.One a success and at Rs 150 crore it is the third Indian film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. “It is possible that this film is the third big-budget movie,” said film historian, SMM Ausaja. Akshay Kumar’s 2009 movie Blue was the first film which was made on a mega budget of Rs 129 crore, while Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Endhiran (2010) was made at Rs 190 crore and tops the list. Shahrukh has traveled length and breadth of the country to promote his film. He went on an eight-city tour for the film’s promotions and collaborated with 25 brands. If reports are to be believed, Shahrukh has spent about Rs 52 crore on marketing through tie ups. Other Bollywood big tickets have been under Rs 100 crore. Aamir Khan’s Ghajini cost Rs 65 crore, while Kareena Kapoor starrer Kambakkht Ishq and Harman Baweja’s Love Story 2050 were made at Rs 60 crore. Epic films like Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai starrer Jodha Akbar, Shah Rukh’s Devdas and sci-fi film Krrish were made within Rs 50 crore.

Aamir Khan dreams of Hollywood heroines!
Will Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman or Eva Longoria say ‘yes’ to him?
Well, well, well. Looks like our perfectionist hero Aamir Khan is not averse to chasing a bit of Hollywood skirt. Not satisfied with the talent India has to offer the perfect Khan has cast his roving eye westward for Dhoom:3, if Cineswami’s mole in Yash Raj Films can be believed. Aamir, as you gentle folk know, is most likely playing a bald gymnastic thief in the film and will definitely overshadow his hapless co-stars. Click here to read more

Rajinikanth’s ‘Kochadaiyaan’ to bring the dead back to life!
Cineswami visited the sets of the film in London and found out
It seems that nothing is impossible for the indestructible Rajinikanth, even bringing the dead back to life, but that is precisely what’s going to happen in Kochadaiyaan. Ever at your service, doing the jobs others don’t want to, Cineswami dropped into the closed and hush-hush sets of the film at London’s Pinewood Studios and got you this nugget. The 3D motion capture film being directed by the Superstar’s daughter Soundarya will use cutting edge technology to bring the dearly departed comedians and villains of Tamil cinema Nagesh, P S Veerappa, M N Nambiar, R.S Manohar and Asokan back to life, albeit in animated form. As the icing on the cake, the much-loved Nagesh will be seen in a double role. But the cherry is reserved for Thalaivar who will be seen in not one, not two, but three different roles in the film. Rahman gets a German flavour
The Babelsberg Orchestra and students of Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory will serve up orchestral versions of tunes from the music maestro’s films
Did we need any particular reason to celebrate the genius of our own Oscar-winner AR Rahman? No? Thought not. The revered German orchestra Babelsberg is hitting Indian shores for a concert tour featuring the music of the Chennai Chopin. Commencing January 20 in Mumbai, the ‘Germany and India: 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities’ concert tour will move on to Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore. Fittingly, the tour will celebrate two centenaries – that of Babelsberg and of Indian cinema. As you can imagine, this won’t be your standard concert with star playback singers. Rather, German musicians alongside students of Rahman’s KM Conservatory will serve up orchestral versions of Rahman tunes from Bombay, Swades, The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Panday, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Roja, Endhiran, Dil Se and many others. The eclectic choice is thanks to Rahman collaborator Matt Dunkley. Click here to read more
