Rekha birthday special: Her inspiring performances

There is no doubt that Rekha is feminine grace and sensuality personified. But her Bollywood career goes beyond that. She tried to step out of that image and play some memorable characters in notable films
There are some female actors whose beauty overshadows their acting prowess. Rekha is a prime example of this. Happy Birthday, Rekha!

    Happy Birthday, Rekha!

One of Bollywood’s most beautiful actors, the diva turns 57 but age has not changed her much – her ethereal beauty continues to glow. Rekha has acted in over 180 films in a career that has spanned more than 40 years. She has often played strong female characters and, apart from mainstream cinema, has made her presence felt in art-house films like Ijazat. She has won almost every popular award, as well as the National Award, this one for Umrao Jaan. Talking about any regrets she may have, Rekha has said in an interview, “I regret that Aag Ki Dariya never got released. It was my first film opposite thespian Dilip Kumar and I very much wanted viewers to judge our histrionic confrontation.” On her birthday, we hope that this wish of her comes true. Amen.
