Bollywood is known to be passionately vibrant. Our Hindi films use colours innovatively – whether it is to depict an actual object, to dress up a heroine or to indicate the mood of the subject matter. Red is one the most striking and diverse colours. It stands for love and passion on the one hand and danger on the other. It also stands for courage, loyalty and sacrifice. Our films have used the various elements of this colour – sometimes in the most obvious sense and oftentimes in their underlying themes.
