Imtiaz Ali Rockstar News
Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Rockstar’ rakes in Rs 11.25 cr on 11.11.11
It seems Rockstar is well on its way to becoming a hit. We hear that the Ranbir Kapoor-Nargis Fakhri-starrer has already made Rs 11.25 crore across India on opening day. That is not only the highest opening for any Ranbir film, but also supposedly the most any film has made in the non-festival season – except Ready. Rockstar has got positive reviews from critics and moviegoers, so it is expected to continue its good run at the box office. It’s also helped by the fact that the next big-budget movie Desi Boyz will release only on November 25. So Rockstar has got two clear weeks where it can expect to rake in the profits. The Imtiaz Ali film needs all the help it can get, considering it went over budget. Buzz is that it was slated to be made in Rs 45 crore, but what with Ranbir and Imtiaz both being perfectionists, the film ended up costing Rs 60 crore. Right now, it looks like the film will recover its costs from ticket sales alone, and when you add up all the other sales – satellite rights, music rights – it will definitely be a hit. Good going, Ranbir and Imtiaz.

Will ‘Rockstar’ be lucky for Ranbir, Nargis and Imtiaz?
Our in-house astro-numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi claims Rockstar will go on to become a huge hit. Not only is the buzz surrounding the film a positive one and its songs already chartbusters, but the ‘stars’ are also favouring it. “The title Rockstar adds up to Number 24 – this octave of number 6 is a fortunate number. It promises the assistance and association of those of rank and position with one’s plans; it also denotes gain through love and the opposite sex; it is a favourable number when it comes out in relation to future events,” he says. So the film is bound to prove profitable for all involved. He adds, “Plus the release date of 11.11.11 will prove lucky as this day is primarily ruled by number 2 (Moon) which is a highly creative, artistic and spiritual number. Add to that, the year 2011 which sums up to number 4 (Rahu) supports most people, places, dates or names adding up to numbers 1, 2, 4 or 7 and Ranbir Kapoor (28th September), newcomer Nargis Fakhri (20th October 1979) and director Imtiaz Ali (16th June 1971), all three fit in this bracket just perfectly.” We don’t know about numerology, but we sure are excited about watching Rockstar. Aren’t you?

Choreographer Uma: There was only singing and playing in ‘Rockstar’
“Ranbir Kapoor would just jam in one corner,” say Uma and Gaiti, the choreographers for Rockstar, who helped the young actor groove with absolute style
Uma and Gaiti for whom choreography extends beyond dancing, have earlier worked on movies like Karthik Calling Karthik and have also done a couple of reality shows. Hence when the duo were asked to choreograph Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar, they gave their nod to the project without thinking twice, knowing that it’s a music based film and there’s very little scope for hardcore dancing. Of course, they are disappointed about not being able to make Ranbir Kapoor shimmy to their command, but then they stuck their noses to the grindstone and made the Kapoor dude look like a real rockstar by working on his body language… Click here to read more
