Ronit Roy: I idolise Anil Kapoor
Ronit Roy is a happy man this Christmas because he will be sharing screen space with Anil Kapoor for their upcoming Shootout at Wadala. We wonder what makes this Kapoor so special for Ronit
Ronit Roy, who was appreciated for his role as a strict father in Udaan, is now set to play police officer in director Sanjay Gupta’s next. But he is most excited about sharing the frame with Anil Kapoor. “Yes, I will play Raja Tambat in Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout At Wadala. I am proud to co-star with Anil Kapoor, who I’ve idolised since many years for his dedication towards his craft. He plays Isaque Bagwan,” Ronit posted on Twitter. Click here to read more
Ronit Roy: From lawyer in ‘Adalat’ to havaldar in ‘Shootout at Wadala’
Ronit Roy is all set to play the role of Constable Raja Tambat in Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala. Tambat is remembered for gunning down the famous gangster Manya Surve on January 11, 1982 in Mumbai. But apart from playing this legendary character, Ronit is excited to share screen space with Anil Kapoor who is playing the role of a senior cop, Isaque Bagwan, in the same movie. Ronit’s association with Anil dates back to the time when he used to stay with Subhash Ghai as a permanent guest. Remembering that period, Ronit said in an interview, “I’ve always wanted to work with Anil bhaiyya. I know him from the time he was a regular visitor at Subhash uncle’s place. Anil bhaiyya would drop in any time. His enthusiasm for cinema was relentless. And now to be working with him is an honour.” Ronit, while we are happy that your dream of working with Anil Kapoor is coming true, we shudder at the thought of what would happen to your popular character as a lawyer in Adalat (on Sony) once you get into the mind space of a havaldar?

John Abraham will play Manya Surve in Shootout At Wadala. We wonder if he’ll be able to do a good job
John Abraham is known more for his beefcake bod than his acting chops. The main reason why filmmakers cast him is, his infectious smile and his physique which makes for perfect eye candy material. We understand that John likes being cast in hatke films, as we’ve seen him in Deepa Mehta’s Water and Anurag Kashyap’s No Smoking, but this time it is different. In Water, John didn’t have to speak much as it was actor Lisa Ray’s film all through and in No Smoking he was playing the role of an urban arrogant corporate honcho. Click here to read more
