Jagjit Singh passes away
Renowned singer, Jagjit Singh passed away on Monday morning at 8am due to brain haemorrhage. The ghazal and bhajan singer had been under observation at the Lilavati hospital since September 23. He is survived by his wife Chitra Singh. His son, Vivek Singh had died earlier in 1990 in a road accident. Both husband and wife had gained their fame in the field of music. The ‘Ghazal king’ has rendered his voice in Hindi films like Prem Geet, Saath Saath, Arth, Sarfarosh and Tarqeeb. Besides Hindi, Jagjit Singh has also given his sung in Urdu, Punjabi and Nepali. The singer had also given his voice for ex-prime minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee’s poems in the albums Nayi Disha and Samvedna.

The actor, who recently went through a surgery for a facial nerve disorder, is now glad that he didn’t delay the treatment further. The actor who has been hopping between Ek Tha Tiger shoots and the Bigg Boss 5 set post-surgery, says that he can’t help the travelling and the hectic schedule as it is a part of his profession. Salman Khan told a daily that there he has recovered about 60 per cent but there was no surefire method to cure his ailment. “In hindsight, if I had delayed the surgery, let’s say for another year, who knows? I would have landed in a coma, the way Jagjit Singh is right now,” he said.
