AGNEEPATH movie review: Hrithik Roshan lifts the film

AGNEEPATH movie review: Hrithik Roshan lifts the film

Hrithik Roshan’s understated yet powerful performance and Rishi Kapoor’s strong portrayal of the baddie shine through in this otherwise lacklustre remake
There are great expectations from Agneepath for three main reasons: it is a remake of an Amitabh Bachchan flick, it’s produced by Karan Johar and has a huge starcast. But I wonder why? In any case the original Agneepath had tanked at the box office at first, only to have been recognised as a cult classic later. In a way, this one’s not just a remake. Director Karan Malhotra has taken the basic plot and played around with it. Click here to read more

Can Salman Khan recreate Ajith’s villainy in ‘Zanjeer’?

Can Salman Khan recreate Ajith’s villainy in ‘Zanjeer’?

Over the years, Bollywood produced great actors who brought to life some of the most iconic villains of Hindi cinema. But who today can do justice to those roles in remakes?
Think Bollywood and you may envision chiffon saris and kissing flowers, but Hindi films have produced some great villains too. Sometimes they’ve impeded young love, but many-a-time they have also caused massive destruction in the life of young heroes. These arch-baddies have become iconic and are as oft-quoted as a Jai or a Veeru. What makes them so special? Why do today’s filmmakers get tempted to bring these bad people back to life? Who will play Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in ‘Agneepath’ south remake?

South Indian filmmakers are vying for the remake rights of Karan Johar’s new Agneepath
Even as Karan Johar’s remake of Agneepath is still running in theatres, the filmmaker has been flooded with inquiries for a south Indian remake. It’s an interesting trend, considering that after the success of Hindi remakes like Ghajini, Wanted, Dabangg, Ready and Singham, every major actor / producer in B-town got busy buying southern film rights. Agneepath seems to have turned the tide in Bollywood’s favour. Click here to read more

Hrithik Roshan eager to show ‘Agneepath’ remake to Big B

Amitabh Bachchan, the original Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, will be called for a special preview of Agneepath
If Hrithik Roshan is eagerly awaiting the release of Agneepath, he is equally keen to show the film to the original Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Amitabh Bachchan. “I think once the film is ready for previews, he will be the first person we will call,” said Hrithik who reprises Amitabh’s role in the Agneepath remake.
The original, directed by Mukul Anand, came in 1990 and Big B had won a National Film Award for his performance in the movie. While the original Agneepath was produced by Yash Johar, the remake is being financed by the late filmmaker’s son, Karan Johar. Click here to read more

Hrithik Roshan: I’m playing the underdog in ‘Agneepath’!

Hrithik Roshan: I’m playing the underdog in ‘Agneepath’!

The star cast of Agneepath – Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt – as well as the producer-director duo of Karan Johar and Karan Malhotra were in form at the launch of the film’s theatrical trailer recently. The megastars and the makers of the film told us a little of what Agneepath is all about…
When Hrithik Roshan turned up sporting a ponytail, showing off his lean yet sculpted body and wearing black aviators mounted on his arrow-shaped nose, the screams reached ear-splitting decibels. Priyanka Chopra leaned on the arm of the Greek god and looked sizzling hot in an outfit that accentuated her curves even further….and the applause got even more intense! Sanjay Dutt, who’s playing the villain Kancha Cheena in the film, received loads of taalis and unending ceetees as he walked in, bald head and earrings gleaming in the overhead lights. Producer Karan Johar looked suave in his black suit and was accompanied by Karan Malhotra, the young director of the film. Kjo was his usual eloquent self. And from Vijay Deenanath Chauhan (Hrithik) to Kancha Cheena, and from Kaali (Priyanka) to Karan, the cornerstones of the film took their seats and faced the rapid-fire…… Click here to read more

Katrina does another item number, this time in ‘Agneepath’

Katrina does another item number, this time in ‘Agneepath’

Karan Johar has managed to get the ‘Sheila’ babe to do another wiggle in the Hrithik Roshan starrer, Agneepath
The Agneepath item number story has a new chapter, hopefully the final edition. For some time now we have been hearing buzz about a song that needed a sexy top heroine to do her thing for. Priyanka Chopra was the strongest contender, our birdie told us, until she cleared the rumour-filled air to explain that she has an action sequence with villain Sanjay Dutt, but will not shake a leg or anything else to music in the film. Now we hear that Katrina Kaif will take on that hippy-hippy-shake-shake role, which will be a highlight of the film. Click here to read more

Do you like Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Agneepath’ look?

Do you like Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Agneepath’ look?

As the first look of Agneepath is out, making comparisons with the original one seems to be inevitable. Sanjay Dutt plays the role of Kancha Cheena, the negative character in the movie which was originally portrayed by Danny Denzongpa. Sanjay’s look is sure to give you goose pimples. His bald appearance and beefy frame is much louder than Danny’s subtle mannerisms. Sanjay Dutt, as of now has managed to grab most of the eyeballs because of his creepy look. Kancha Cheena has already moved a notch higher, wonder if the movie and similarly the other characters can live up to the standard that the Amitabh Bachchan starrer created.
