Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor love taking swipes at each other, be it on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan or in some random interview. Although the two diplomatic babes have claimed that they have buried their hatchet – and not in each other’s backs – who knows it better than us that those axes will be excavated again from the huge playground we call Bollywood and used to good effect. The horseplay and the hoopla is never going to end – as long as there are pretty and, let’s not forget, mewling women in B-town.

Well, ya, that’s what she said on KJo’s chat show when Kareena mockingly pointed at her American twang. “I get my accent from the same place Kareena’s boyfriend gets it from,” the Chopra chick dropped her verbal bomb. How the rivalry began….well, thereby hangs a tale! And we will save it for another slow-gossip day.

So now that the Go Goa Gone makers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK are planning to make a film with PC and Saif, we wonder if Bebo will let her hubby transform his relationship with PC from mere nodding acquaintances to work colleagues to….uhmmm…well, our imagination is running wild already. And we also hope certain style patterns are never repeated by celebs – for instance: Preity Zinta in cut-out shoulder tops or Ranbir Kapoor in floppy, loose cargo pants or even Kareena Kapoor Khan in a long skirt and a full-sleeved shirt. Remember the hideous phase when balloon dresses were in vogue? Such trends should be buried deep in ancient history and never excavated. On the other hand, the maxi dress style that is fast catching on, worn by many hot beauties….now that we really wish stays for a long time.

Kareena Kapoor Khan first jumped at the prospect of working with her first cousin Ranbir Kapoor when director Zoya Akhtar planned to cast the two superstars from the same filmi khaandaan in her next project. Zoya was keen to revive Bollywood’s long forgotten brother-sister jodi in the movies.

Bebo was more than happy to be paired with her talented cousin for the film. But now, with Ranbir opting out of the project citing date clashes and Ranveer Singh being pulled in, KKK is not particularly interested in doing the role, we hear. She is having second thoughts about the character she plays and whether she would be convincing enough when pitted against someone who is not her ‘brother’.

We understand Bebo’s reasons…sort of. After all, as Ranbir is a performer of the highest degree and his versatility would have made this project even more promising, she could feel a kind of disappointment that goes way beyond the sibling bonding thing. But the replacement – Ranveer aka Casanova Singh – seems to have given the stylish Bebo jitters…no? Interestingly, some months ago Bebo turned down a film offer- Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ramleela, to be precise – that has Ranveer playing the lead role. Deepika Padukone was roped in to play the part originally sketched for Kareena.

Clearly, Kareena has something against the Singh dude. Perhaps Ranveer’s over-the-top flirtatious image is not working his favour and Bebo is in no mood to take the risk of working with that vibe when he is supposed to be her brother…onscreen, of course. To make matters worse, Ranveer declared in a TV chat show that he has a ‘thing’ for the bootylicious Kapoor babe. In this scenario, wethinks it would make sense for the newly married Bebo to steer clear of films with actors who are over-friendly, or give off that vibe. And given her hubby’s Saifu’s volatile temper, wifey Kareena should play it safe, wethinks!

Competition is hotting up for heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor, with his Bandra bestie Ranveer Singh threatening to overtake him in terms of popularity. Reading from the comments posted by Bollywoodlife readers on this article, we thought viewers are watching the two stars pretty closely and know who is capable of doing what on celluloid. And they think Ranveer is a better choice to play Kareena Kapoor’s brother in Zoya Akhtar’s film than her real-life cousin Ranbir.

After a decade-long association with the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, Amitabh Bachchan, then the brand ambassador of the annual event, had a tiff with organisers Wizcraft International Entertainment. This was because the Bachchan family had refused to go to Sri Lanka for the awards in 2010 owing to some opposition to Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s film Raavan in the neighbouring country.

And so, Salman Khan had famously taken over the mantle from Big B, and was seen everywhere at the Sri Lankan IIFA Weekend. But last year again, the big stars of Bollywood like Amitabh, Salman, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Akshay Kumar (Aamir Khan doesn’t attend award ceremonies) missed the event. It was evident that the IIFA party was losing sheen.

It seems now Sabbas Joseph of Wizcraft has called a truce and Big B is likely to be the face of the international Bollywood awards ceremony again. And Bachchan will make his comeback at a familiar venue – The Venetian Macao hotel in Macau, where the 2009 IIFA Weekend was held.

Looks like Wizcraft preferred to go with Macau looking at its experience with The Venetian, and rejected Vancouver’s bid earlier this year. Let’s see if Shahrukh and Salman will turn up for the IIFA Awards 2013!

Born on May 13, 1982, Punit Malhotra is all geared up for his next film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein with Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Famous designer Manish Malhotra’s nephew, Punit made his directorial debut in 2010 with the Sonam Kapoor-Imran Khan starrer I Hate Luv Storys. But we were shocked to discover that the dude never planned to call the shots. In fact, in one of the interviews, he had expressed his desire to act, and yes, has acted in a number of ads – endorsing famous brands like Belmonte and Tropicana, and also shared screen space with Shahrukh Khan in one of them. But looks like his passion to display his charm on screen changed with time as he now belongs to the young crop of filmmakers who are defining the change in cinema. While his first film was about young ‘stars in the eyes’ kinda love, his next we hear is an out and out romcom.

We saw Punit celebrating his b’day with the cast and crew of GTPM. Imran seems to be having a good time with a pint of beer in his hand. We wish Punit a very happy birthday and we are waiting to see what Immu and Bebo are up to in this flick…

Just while we were wondering if Punit Malhotra’s Gori Tere Pyaar Mein – starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan in the lead roles – is set against a village backdrop, Kareena tweeted a picture that simply confirmed our doubts. After playing the peppy urban couple in Malhotra’s last directorial venture Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Imran and Bebo are now set to play a sheheri babu and gaaon ki chori respectively in this one. At least that’s what this still suggests. While KK looks every bit of a sexy village belle in her salwar kameez and the bindi on her forehead adding drama to her avatar, Imran looks like a city dude with those aviators mounted on his nose.

Honestly speaking, the name of the film sounds like the title of a television soap opera. But you never know what kinda surprise Punit will spring! Maybe the movie, despite its title sounding very blah, will astonish us by having Kareena and Imran in out-and-out different avatars.
