    The veteran music composer, to whom the song My name is Anthony Gonsalves was dedicated, passed away last night. He was 84.
    Anthony Gonsalves, a Goan orchestra maestro and the man to whom the Amitabh Bachchan‘s legendary Bollywood song My name is Anthony Gonsalves was dedicated, is no more. Gonsalves was suffering from pneumonia for the last few days, and died in hospital at the Goa Medical College Wednesday night. An orchestra maestro and a capable music arranger and known for his magical violin skills, Gonsalves had worked with well-known composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, who dedicated the Amar Akbar Anthony song to the Goan musician.     Amitabh Bachchan mourns death of Anthony Gonsalves

    Amitabh Bachchan, who played the character of Anthony Gonsalves in the 1977 hit movie Amar Akbar Anthony, has mourned the death of the real-life Goan orchestra maestro. The musician, who was suffering from pneumonia, died at the Goa Medical College Wednesday. He was 84. “Anthony Gonsalves…passes away….talented musician with LP and on his name my character name for Anthony was put..prayers,” the 69-year-old superstar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
    Directed by Manmohan Desai, Amar Akbar Anthony also featured Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor in key roles. Laxmikant-Pyarelal, who were the composers of the movie, had dedicated the legendary song My name is Anthony Gonsalves from the movie to the Goan musician, after working with him in the past. The veteran had also worked with legendary music director SD Burman and was associated with Guru Dutt’s Pyaasa and BR Chopra’s iconic film Naya Daur.     Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’ sweeps GIMA with six awards

    Salman Khan’s Dabangg continues its winning spree. The National Award-winning film which boasted of the chartbuster Munni badnaam hui walked away with six awards, including best film album, at the Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA). The event was held at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon on Thursday night. Mamta Sharma won the best music debut for Munni badnaam. The best music director award went to Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit for their compositions in the movie. Dabangg also won the technical awards for best background score by Sandeep Shirodkar, best engineer-film album by Eric Pillai and best engineer-theatre mix for Leslie Fernandes.
