Love You To Death review: Light-hearted, but not funny!

Love You To Death review: Light-hearted, but not funny!

We couldn’t agree more when the director of the film said in an interview that LYTD has actors and not stars
Yuki Ellias and Chandan Roy Sanyal play a grumpy couple floundering through a loveless marriage. While Chandan sets his eyes on Yuki’s moolah, Yuki sets her heart on anything that appeals to her in the heat of the moment. From resorting to tarot card predictions to suddenly falling in love with a man who’s working for the noble cause of protecting the environment, Yuki is a happy-go-lucky chick living her life happily irrespective of a shrewd husband and a cruel mother-in-law.The movie would lose its light-hearted charm without certain interesting characters. LOVE YOU TO DEATH trailer: Chandan Roy Sanyal in a Hinglish comedy

LOVE YOU TO DEATH trailer: Chandan Roy Sanyal in a Hinglish comedy

An unusual couple, a weird mother-in-law, a dog who plays an integral role; Love You to Death looks nothing less than a roller coaster ride
Love You to Death director Rafeeq Ellias very modestly mentions at the start of the promo that he can’t afford the Khans and the Kapoors despite loving them to death. Substituting the big stars with humble actors like Chandan Roy Sanyal, Yuki Ellias, Suhasini Mulay, Sheeba Chaddha and Nicolas Brown (of Kites fame), photographer Ellias tries his hand at making a feature film for the first time. Looks like a decent attempt, but we doubt if it will really live up to the label of an outrageous comedy that it claims to be. All the chaos and the clamour brewing up amongst the characters look interesting. LYTD releases on February 3, and we wait to see if this small-budget film with strong actors has the potential to keep the audience hooked on to the screen. Click here to read more

Rafeeq Ellias: Chandan Roy Sanyal is a mix of Woody Allen and Charlie Chaplin

Rafeeq Ellias: Chandan Roy Sanyal is a mix of Woody Allen and Charlie Chaplin

Photographer Rafeeq Ellias dons the director’s hat and enters the world of feature films this week with the release of his first movie, Love You To Death
An addition to the new crop of directors, Ellias insists that there’s nothing called a ‘mindless film’, which is why we think he’s had no qualms in coming up with a Hinglish comedy flick that’s nothing less than a roller-coaster ride between Chandan Roy Sanyal and Yuki Ellias- the protagonists. A tête-à-tête with the calm and composed Rafeeq takes us through the creative journey he has embarked on and helps us get a fresh insight into the cluttered place we call Bollywood… Click here to read more

That’s why the F.A.L.T.U. actor is yet to watch his upcoming flick Tell Me O Kkhuda. Here he talks about the unique factor in TMOK, playing the lead role in two films and why he’s doing new age cinema
Chandan Roy Sanyal can’t stop smiling these days. Even at the rains in Mumbai and Delhi, where he’s gone to shoot for his next film, Prague. “I like rains,” he says. And why not?
