After declaring Chakravyuh song Tata, Birla a ‘personal attack’, the Central Board of Film Certification has now put pressure on filmmaker Prakash Jha to delete some portions where there is an apparent direct taunt at Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. The line in question – Bahut dekhi teri sardari – is seen by the censor board as a ‘pointed reference’ to the PM, as he is a Sardar belonging to the Sikh community. Some 64 years after Nathuram Godse’s bullets felled Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of our nation, the Mahatma continues to be the subject of attack – on celluloid. Producer Prakash Bare and director Jayan Cheriyan’s Malayalam film Papilio Buddha has been banned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on the grounds of denigrating the Mahatma.
