Anil Kapoor’s blink-and-you-miss-him appearance in MI4’s new trailer!

After all the hullabaloo and promises, the Bollywood star makes a fleeting appearance in the latest promo of his first bone fide Hollywood film. And it has saddened us…again!
When the first promo of Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol was released in India Anil Kapoor fans – like us – all over the world were mighty disappointed. There was no hint of the Bollywood biggie in the 2.24-minute-long trailer of the Hollywood flick. Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor, Kal Penn: Hollywood is teeming with Indian faces

Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor, Kal Penn: Hollywood is teeming with Indian faces

And if we go by what Shekhar Kapur says, the next Spider-Man could well be Asian
The fierce love-hate debates about Rockstar last week drowned out a milestone. On 11.11.11, an approximately US$130 million Hollywood movie directed by an Indian and starring an Indian actress in the lead role was released. Immortals, a fantasy about gods, mortals and mythical creatures, is directed by Tarsem Singh Dhandwar (a graduate of Bishop Cotton School and Hans Raj College) and features Mumbai gal Freida Pinto as the virgin oracle Phaedra. Sadly, the film was a clunker—American critic Roger Ebert started his review with the line, ‘Immortals is without doubt the best-looking awful movie you will ever see.’ But it underlined an important fact: Indians are finally arriving in Hollywood. Oscar special: Will an Indian film win an Academy Award any time soon?

Looking at the list of releases in 2012, it is highly unlikely that any movie that comes out of Bollywood will make to the Oscars next year
People often debate whether Bollywood needs acknowledgement from the Academy Awards and if we really need to be appreciated by the West. And while some argue that winning an Oscar should not be a benchmark for Indian films or a source of self gratification for our filmmakers and actors, the truth is that winning that coveted trophy is likely to bring popularity on a global level. Anil Kapoor re-dubs his scenes in ‘Tezz’

Anil Kapoor re-dubs his scenes in ‘Tezz’

Anil Kapoor’s accent has been oscillating between his old Lakhan ishtyle and the newly acquired British one. But is the international star going too far with it?
Anil Kapoor is well known for his Hollywood accomplishments. And the foreign accent is inevitable with every international project. While it worked for his Hollywood assignments the same can’t be said about Anil’s upcoming film Tezz. Guess the filmmakers and the one-two-ka-four Lakhan forgot that the accent wasn’t a natural one. That’s probably why it went kaput in Priyadarshan’s Tezz. Click here to read more
