‘Gattu’, ‘Saving Face’, ‘Shala’ win at New York Indian Film Festival

The 12th New York Indian Film Festival announced its winners for 2012 at New York University’s Skirball Center for the Arts. The festival was held from May 23-27 at Tribeca Cinemas, Lower Manhattan. Director Rajan Khosa’s much-talked about film Gattu won the top honour of Best Film. Mohammad Samad, the child artiste in Gattu, won Best Young Actor, while Best Director went to Sujay Dahake for Marathi film Shala (School). Click here to read more
Kareena Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar to attend New York Indian Film Festival
They will most likely use the festival to promote their film Heroine. Why doesn’t that come as a surprise?
It’s a strong line up of films at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) this year and Kareena Kapoor has no intention of missing it. She and her Heroine director Madhur Bhandarkar will be the special guests at the festival. The NYIFF is the longest-running festival of Indian films in America and it’s not at all surprising that Kareena has agreed to attend it.
