Is Mahie Gill getting typecast as a drunk?
The Dev.D actor is gearing up to play an alcoholic in her new film Gangs of Ghost. But hasn’t she done it already?
Versatile is a good way of describing Mahie Gill, say most critics. After all, she managed to be a feisty Paro in Dev.D, a seductive mistress in Gulaal and a bloody (that’s not a gaali, promise!) murderess in Not A Love Story. And then there is the Mahie Gill Click here to read more
DELHI BELLY Review: Aiming for culthood!
There is no one called DK Bose in the film, but that doesn’t stop Delhi Belly from being added to our all-time fave list
Before Delhi Belly begins, you see the trailer of Ram Gopal Varma’s next film, Not a Love Story, with a punchline that reads: ‘A story from the heart but not for the fainthearted’. That better describes Delhi Belly! Sitting through all the ‘crap’ that happens onscreen is no joke – with close-ups of male bum cracks, excreta and farting sounds all through, plus swear words and simulated sex scenes.

Deepak Dobriyal recovering from eye injury – says he’s happy to be alive and wants to resume work
The Not A Love Story actor relives his nightmare of nearly going blind and is now ready to resume work
While shooting for Annirudh Chautala’s film in Rajasthan, Deepak Dobriyal had the retina, cornea and lens of his left eye pierced in a freak accident. Two months later, he is on the way to recovery and says the ruptured eye and the disrupted career are both back on the road to recovery. The accident took place April 11 and Deepak, the scene-stealer from Omkara, Tanu Weds Manu and Not A Love Story, and his hysterically anguished wife thought he had lost his vision, and his career, for good. Satya 2: Is Ram Gopal Varma going to destroy his cult classic?
The trailer of Satya 2 shows that Ram Gopal Varma has not yet learned from his past mistakes
Ram Gopal Varma is a brave man. Brave yet naïve – and we don’t mean that in a good way at all! And the fact that he is more egotistical than he is sensible has been why he has not heeded sound advice from well wishers, and his name as a top class director has topped the must-laugh-at list. Aishwarya Rai won’t be a part of ‘Sarkar 3’. So who will?
Ram Gopal Varma has confirmed that the actor is not a part of his new film. We wonder who it will be then

Mahie Gill: ‘Not a Love Story’ was mentally exhausting
‘Bold’ has become Mahie Gill’s second name. Ever since her debut in Bollywood, she has done roles that most actors would shy away from. Her latest act is the onscreen portrayal of Maria Susairaj in Ram Gopal Varma’s Not a Love Story. She gets candid about playing this controversial character…
Mahie Gill is a well-known name in the stratum once called ‘parallel cinema’. She is of the ilk that filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap et al focus on. For the masses, she played Arbaaz Khan’s lover Nirmala in Dabangg. After a few films (Gulaal, Mirchi, Utt Pataang and Aagey Se Right) here and there, the Chandigarh born actor returns to the limelight with another controversial act. But then that’s what filmmakers like about Mahie: she doesn’t limit herself. Remember the daring liplock in her first film, Dev.D? Click here to read more

There has been a lot of buzz about the return of Salman Khan as Robinhood Pandey even before the film has gone on the floors. Anurag Kashyap embarrassed by ‘Chittagong’ goof up
The poster boy of Indie cinema found himself in an awkward situation thanks to an error by Chittagong‘s producer Sunil Bohra
It is rumoured that Amitabh Bachchan had used his clout to stop the release of director Bedabrata Pain’s Chittagong, because it was based on the same lines as that of the Abhishek Bachchan-Deepika Padukone-starrer Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. While Gowariker’s film released and hardly found any takers, Bedabrata’s version of the uprising in Chittagong was seen and appreciated by many people, especially by hatke filmmakers like Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra and Vishal Bhardwaj. NOT A LOVE STORY review: Miss it at your own risk
Guest reviewer Hansal Mehta was “completely surprised, engaged, disturbed and in awe” at the story “narrated with hyperactive energy, a disturbing insight into human behaviour”
Since I am without a platform to blog on, here is my two bit about Ram Gopal Varma’s Not A Love Story. Ramu has been an inspiration for many like me – for his audacity, his choice of subject, his treatment, his attitude and his approach. I have spent many years of my career looking at his films with appreciation, awe, anger, detestation and, I dare say, envy. The lesson I’ve learnt from him is – never stop trying. Every time I have interacted with him I have found a childlike excitement for technology, performances, form, subject and everything that inhabits his cinematic world. You can disagree with him, you can argue with him, you can praise him, you can run him down. He will listen, but I suspect he does not give a damn! So much for Ramu. Click here to read more
Is Ramu really serious?
RGV hangs in between the virtual and the real world
Replacing the label of ‘formidable director’ with ‘insensitive human being’, Ram Gopal Varma remains unaffected by other people’s opinions about him. At this point, when the whole nation is singing the same tune – that the verdict in the Maria Susairaj case is unfair – RGV is happily crooning a much different lyric, in his usual brash style. But what’s astonishing is the fact that this man, who portrays a self-opinionated image mainly on the social networking site, Twitter, is an absolutely different person when he comes face to face with the media.
