Chandan Roy Sanyal’s Prague is a tough film to ingest, as it takes us into the heart of darkness
Film: Prague; Cast: Chandan Roy Sanyal, Elena Kazan, Kumar Mayank, Arfi Lamba; Directed by Ashish R Shukla
It’s easy to expel experimental cinema from the orbit of our experience. Label it incomprehensible and bury it… But wait. Hang on. There is life beyond mass entertainment. It is not about grand masti alone. There are the dark unexplored regions of the psyche that cinema must reify even if it means taking into confidence an audience that doesn’t want to think while watching a film. ROCKSTAR Movie Review: Ranbir Kapoor excels, Nargis Fakhri is promising
Director Imtiaz Ali won half the battle when he got AR Rahman to compose the music for his film. Ranbir Kapoor helps him conquer the other half
So you’ve seen the promos and think you know what the film’s about? Actually, there’s a lot more to it. Rockstar is not just a journey of an aspiring musician. It also charts the main lead’s spiritual path and highlights that just making it big in life doesn’t lead to inner happiness. Inspired by the writings of Sufi poet Rumi, the film is layered and delivers the goods without getting boring. Click here to read more
Ranbir Kapoor spreads ‘Rockstar’ fever
The actor has been sporting different styles at various events, but the one common factor that’s conspicuous in all his looks is the fact that it’s charmingly rustic and innovative
As Ranbir chooses styling as one of the routes to promote his new film Rockstar, there’s a whole new breed of fashion lovers aping the actor’s style and flaunting it with a with a sense of infectious confidence. Short kurtas and patiala pants teamed with cool aviators are the talk of this stylish town and accessorising is not merely a girly or a Goan thing any more. Aki Narula is the brainchild behind Ranbir’s look and he has apparently handpicked clothes from the local shops of Prague and Delhi. A very assorted style, the designer has mixed and matched various elements but stuck to the raw flavour imperative for the Kapoor kid’s character in the movie. Setting trends isn’t as easy as it looks. Along with having the courage of coming with an out-and-out new look, one must also have the ability to carry it off and inspire people to follow it. The spunky Kajol did it with her red overalls in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Kareena Kapoor was a perfect prototype combining patiala pants with T-shirts in Jab We Met. As we recollect fashion benchmarks set by B-town actors, we clearly see Ranbir as a name that will very easily make an entry into the memories of people as one of the trendsetters of Bollywood.
